I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Granola Cereal Bars

I found this recipe on the back of a Shreddies box but made a few changes.  They're not too sweet and they stay crispy too.

Grease a 13 X 9 inch baking pan and line with parchment paper long enough so that you will be able to lift the finished product out of the pan.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter or marg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white or golden corn syrup
2 tbsps. liquid honey
1/2 tsp salt
1  1/2 cups Honey Bunches of Oats cereal
1  1/2 cups Shreddies Granola Almond cereal
1 cup dried cranberries
3/4 cup unsalted peanuts
3/4 cup oats
1/2 cup shredded coconut

In a medium saucepan mix the butter, oil, sugar, corn syrup, honey and salt.  Bring to a boil over medium high heat.  Stir and simmer 5 minutes.

Mix the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl and drizzle the liquid over all.  Stir until well coated.

Press into the prepared pan.
Bake 325F for 15 minutes.  Cool 20 minutes then lift out of pan and place on a cooling rack to cool completely before cutting.

I put a bunch of them in individual ziplok bags, ready for lunches.  Or a quick breakfast in your hand. If peanuts are a concern at your school, have them for an after school snack!
