I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Choco Mint Cake Mix Cookie Bars

It's St Patrick's Day and these mint Christmas M and M's are still here.  (I have no idea how chocolate has lasted this long in my house!)  Anyways, take the red ones out (I mean eat them of course and keep the green and white ones for this recipe.

1 box Swiss chocolate cake mix
1/4 - 1/2 cup all bran cereal
1 cup shredded coconut (reserve 4 or 5 tbsps)
1/2 - 1 cup chocolate chips
5 tbsps melted butter
2 eggs

1 cup green and white mint M and M's
Grease two 9 X 9" baking pans (8 X 8 if you want a thicker, cakier cookie which would just make it a bar I guess)

Mix everything together except the reserved coconut and the M and M's.
Divide and spread the batter in 2 pans. Wetting your fingertips will make it easier to press it into place. Press the M and M's evenly on top, then sprinkle on the coconut.
Bake at 350F for 20 minutes, cool and cut.
Makes 40 cookie bars.
