I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Baked Carrot Cake Donuts

Whenever there's an opportunity to celebrate cake, I'm in.
Happy National Donut Day 2015 !

1 cup flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1  1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp ginger

2  1/2 tbsps butter, melted and cooled
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup shredded carrot
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Mix the dry ingredients together and set aside.
Mix the wet ingredients together and combine with the dry.

Spray donut pan with cooking oil and fill about 2/3 full.  The small ones took 1 tbsp and the large ones took about 2  1/2 - 3 tbsps to fill.

Bake at 350 F for 8 minutes for both the small and the large donuts.

Frosting
4 oz cream cheese
2 tbsps butter, room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup icing sugar

When the donuts have cooled, cream the butter and cream cheese together.  Add the vanilla then gradually add the icing sugar.

Spread liberally on the donuts and garnish with more shredded carrots and chopped walnuts.

There's always someone who wants sprinkles though.
