I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Beef Teriyaki

As with the Orange Teriyaki Pork I made last week
http://hotandcoldrunningmom.blogspot.ca/2016/02/orange-teriyaki-pork.html
I started with this teriyaki sauce:

1/2 cup soya sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1/2 tsp sriracha
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp ginger

Whisk the sauce ingredients together and cook over medium heat until thickened enough to coat a spoon.

Cool completely.

Makes 1 cup sauce

3 lb beef top sirloin
2/3 cup teriyaki sauce
2 onions sliced

Pour the sauce over the sirloin in a ziplock bag along with sliced onions. I had done this a few weeks ago to freeze as I was preparing for a house guest.

But as long as you marinade the meat a couple of hours that's good too.

Defrost in fridge, if frozen, then place in a roasting pan and pour the sauce and onions over the top.

Roast in a 350 F oven 80-90 minutes, then let rest on a platter 10 minutes before slicing.

Heat the pan and add water or broth mixed with a little flour to it, scraping up all the brown baked on flavour. Then just add a few shakes of steak spice and pour over to serve.

I didn't get another picture of the meat plated as I didn't want to be irritating to our guest, like my family says I am with food picture-taking : )
