I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Simple and Sticky Hoisin Chicken Drumsticks

Here's my last Chinese food recipe for Chinese New Year this year.
I promise.       Maybe ; )

Marinate at least 2 hours or overnight.

12 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup hoisin sauce
3 garlic cloves, minced
A few drops of sesame seed oil
1 tsp soya sauce
1/2 tsp sriracha
1/4 tsp orange zest
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsps brown sugar

1/2 cup water (to add later)

1 or 2 green onions, sliced
Sesame seeds

Mix all ingredients up to and including the brown sugar and marinate the chicken a minimum of 2 hours. If you've seen some of my recipes you'll know I love using waxed cereal bags for messy jobs like this. They work well...sturdy and no leaks.

Heat 2 tbsps vegetable oil in a large skillet on medium high. Add chicken, the marinade and 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil uncovered. Reduce heat to medium and cook 20-30 minutes turning occasionally until cooked through. Add the white parts of the green onions in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Remove the chicken to a plate and turn the heat up to thicken the sauce. Return the chicken to the skillet to glaze.

Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
These are really good!
