I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

No Bake Honey Date Balls

My nearly 90 year old Mom made these! She made them while a pot of homemade soup simmered on the stove. Her secret to a long life... keep active, don't bitch and moan about your problems and when you wake up in the morning be grateful and say "it wasn't my turn today!"

She used this recipe from our good old Five Roses Cookbook.

Ingredients:

1  1/2 cups chopped dates
2 cups chopped nuts
3 tbsps liquid honey
1 tbsp lemon juice

Chop the dates and nuts finely or use a grinder.  Roll into balls. Roll in chopped nuts too if you like.

Keep refrigerated
Makes 2 1/2 dozen 1" balls

Then she gave some to me because apparently I don't make enough sweets myself ; )   Thanks Mom!
